TECHNOLOGY FELLOWS PROGRAM at SDSM&T

The Technology Fellows Program, funded by the State of South Dakota since FY2000, provides a unique opportunity for Undergraduate students to develop profession-level skills, learn to work in a team-based environment and to be remunerated while learning.  The program is designed so that student Tech Fellows assist Faculty in learning new technology that can be integrated into their course curriculum.

In addition to their assigned tasks, Tech Fellows spend one hour per week in a seminar course.  This course draws on the expertise of various faculty, staff and even the Technology Fellows themselves.  Application for the Program is found below.  Applicants must be South Dakota residents and meet the GPA requirement.

The scope and type of projects are determined by the need of the Faculty and by South Dakota Board of Regents guidelines.  Faculty may make requests for project assistance at any time during the semester.  Please contact Brad O'Brien, program administrator.

Technology Fellows have:

  • Held many workshops for Faculty and Staff, including PowerPoint, FrontPage, and 508 Compliance
  • Created documentation for Email Archiving, MSDN usage and Polycom usage
  • Have evaluated and created user friendly manuals for ADS software (Dr. Keith Whites) and new oscilloscopes (Dr. Tom Montoya)
  • Created an interactive mines of the Black Hills web site (Dr. Colin Paterson)
  • Assist students, faculty and staff with their day-to-day computing issues
(Applications will be accepted March 15 - April 1, 2008)
